If your old rope is dirty,
here are some ideas for cleaning:
- The key to washing your rope is to use a mild, non-detergent soap such as woolite.
- You can wash your rope in the bath tub and elbow grease will get off most surface dirt.
- You can also use a front-loading heavy-duty washing machine set on warm. This is a better option for deep cleaning.
- A last option we have heard about is to double up and daisy-chain your rope and then put it into a standard, top loading, home machine. However, attempt this at your own risk, as it may destroy your washing machine!
- Always drip dry the rope after washing.
However if your rope is not too bad, send it to us, and when you get it back as a rug, wash it using the following instructions.
If your Retied Rope Rug is dirty...
- The best deep cleaning for your rope rug is with a high pressure hose at your local self-service car wash.
- You can use the car wash high-pressure wand in "Rinse mode." You can use the "Soap mode" but these soaps are hard to rinse out and may leave a white residue when dry.
- Always drip dry the rope after washing.
